Dear Friends,

Did you know that Colorado ranks second in the nation for charitable giving? That’s cause for celebration as our state celebrates its 150th year. Over 60% of us give charitably—a joyful part of our lives and an expression of our cherished commitments.

According to the Common Sense Institute, if philanthropic giving ceased in Colorado and the government was left to fill the resulting $6.1 billion+ hole, lawmakers would need to increase the state’s income tax rate by more than half (2.69 percentage points), from its current flat rate of 4.40% to 7.09%.

Specifically, over 550 individuals, 40 corporations, and 20 churches support Mile High Ministries’ work of Housing That Heals—including over 300 individuals who have supported us for at least 10 years. Most are in Colorado, but many generous folks hail from other states and countries also.

Why such trust? Our donors express multiple reasons. Our faithfulness and longevity. Our commitment to best practices, innovation, and effectiveness. Our Christ-infused, holistic, open, and loving approach to people who’ve faced housing insecurity. Our accountability and transparency. “You make it easy for me to trust your organization because there are so many ways to check into Mile High Ministries’ finances and my donations.”

Not only do we welcome questions and scrutiny of our finances from donors, we undergo detailed reviews according to industry standards by an annual third-party CPA audit as well as “Gold Seal” charity monitoring agencies. From handwritten checks to online gifts to foundation grants, every penny is carefully tracked toward its intended purpose.

Our Recognition

We have earned the top ratings possible from the two most widely recognized charity monitors: GuideStar (Candid) and Charity Navigator. Each provides in-depth metrics for trustworthiness, which you can view under our name on their websites. We have also received prestigious awards in our field of affordable housing, including the Eagle Award from Housing Colorado, the Metro Vision Award from the Denver Regional Council of Governments, and the Energize Denver Award from the City and County of Denver.

Our Accountability

We are committed to the highest standards of financial and organizational accountability. Mile High Ministries is a Colorado 501(c)3 non-profit organization; our Federal Tax ID number is 84-0782214. We are governed by a robust board of directors that provides regular, careful oversight with a wealth of experience across a spectrum of professions.

Our Transparency

Our Audited Financial Statements, our Annual Report, and our IRS 990 Public Report are available by request and can also be viewed on our website. Our business office staff maintains systems with multiple checks to ensure every donation is channeled to its intended purpose. A rare error can occur of course, so we provide detailed receipt acknowledgements and annual statements for donors to check against their own giving records. We welcome you to contact us with any questions about how your donations are handled and used.

Our Donor Privacy

We carefully safeguard your personal information. We will not sell, share, or trade our donors’ names or personal information with any other entity, nor communicate to our donors on behalf of other organizations. To the extent any donations are processed through a third-party service provider, our donors’ financial information will only be used for purposes necessary to process the donation. Donors may opt out of mailings and emails at any time.

Our Invitation

If you’re looking for a chance to donate toward life-changing pathways for our most vulnerable neighbors, this would be an ideal time. We’re entering a new fiscal year beginning July 1, with expansive plans that will be made possible with your support.

Gratefully,
