Dear Friends,
Fifteen years ago, a simple act of service—“sprucing” a room at Joshua Station with new furniture and lovely decor for a new resident family—opened the door to something much deeper for Faith Lutheran Church in Golden. Their community went on to adopt Joshua Station as one of their partners in mission.
I’d love to share a bit of their story, as a wonderful inspiration to generosity and open-handedness for us all. This month as we approach the end of our fiscal year, if you’re prompted to give toward our Housing that Heals you can easily do so here.

“We feel like partnering with Joshua Station gives us the chance to build relationships with people instead of just providing a service,” shared Jane Jebsen, Missional Pastor.
That posture has shaped the way their community shows up—hosting monthly dinners, beautifying rooms for new residents, and funding program needs as they arise. Their partnership with Joshua Station has never been about simply meeting needs. It’s about knowing people. Over time, familiar faces have become friends.
Dee Ann Lord, Authentic Connections Team Lead, sees it in the small things. “When we arrive for community dinner… the families are always so excited to see our team. That really fills my heart.”
Sometimes, unexpected moments say the most at Joshua Station—like when two resident kids wandered into a newly furnished room during a volunteer project, laughing as they “tested” the beds and made themselves at home. Or families gathered around a campfire at Rainbow Trail Lutheran Camp, where Joshua Station residents are invited each summer to experience rest, community, and the beauty of the mountains—many for the very first time. “Their faces just shone with joy,” Jane reflected. “This is what we’re called to do.”
Through these relationships, something else begins to shift—not just for the families at Joshua Station, but for the church itself.
“We are richer for engaging in relationships with people who don’t look like us or have the same resources,” Jane shared. It’s a picture of the Kingdom of God—built not on transactions, but on connection.
Their encouragement to others? Simple: just step in.
“Do it,” Dee Ann said. “Once you experience the joy… it’s almost impossible not to share it.”
Because in the end, this work isn’t just about meeting needs—it’s about becoming a community where everyone belongs.
We are deeply grateful for Faith Lutheran’s faithful financial support, which helps make this life-changing work possible. Their generosity creates space for families to rebuild with dignity and hope—and we invite you to join them.
Gratefully,

Kira Leefers
