What I mean by that dramatic-sounding subject line is that I hope you’re sitting down in a home that is a place for you to be comfortable. I hope it’s a place where you feel safe…where you ARE safe. I hope you can cover the rent or make the mortgage payment without having to think about skipping a medical bill or not buying shoes for your kids.
I hope you like your neighbors, and maybe even have a friend or two on the block or down the street who will help you figure out how to fix that broken garbage disposal or share a favorite recipe.
I hope your home is a place of healing, because we all get wounded along the way.
Finally, I hope your home is a place where you can dream. Dreams that begin as a fleeting thought, but with time fill you with the courage to take risks and try new things.
I have a feeling that those same kinds of hopes are what lead you to hope those things for other people. You hear about families driven to the brink of poverty and even homelessness by the difficulty of finding safe, healthy, affordable housing in our city. And that leads you to give.
In that spirit, I invite you to consider a generous year-end gift to Mile High Ministries. Your support is such an important part of making a home for the families of Joshua Station or those who will move into Clara Brown Commons before long.
Blessings and peace,
Jeff Johnsen
