What could possibly be more exciting than staring at a smartphone? Well, that’s what we’re hoping our Joshua Station youth might discover—and they already are. In our afterschool programs (in addition to tutoring and literacy), resident kids explore different passions and interests: new experiences, wide-ranging fields of knowledge, and life-giving skills. Upcoming showcases will include drone usage, yoga, history of Aztec/Maya indigenous groups, sports, and music therapy.
What might YOU add? For just one hour on a Monday, Wednesday, or Thursday at 4:30pm?
Imagine… how that very thing that brings you great joy might spark something in a young person healing from homelessness this year.
If you are interested in sharing, please hop on your smartphone (lol) and contact our Youth Advocate Grace Dean at gdean@milehighmin.org.
As the school year progresses, each young resident will work on their own “passion project” for a final exhibition. Imagine again… what gifts and pride will be on display!
As each of our students head off to school every morning, our whole community (families, staff, and volunteers) are grateful for the huge outpouring of support during our Back2School supply drive. Wonderful friends at Chatham Financial provided most of the financial support. Others of you generously donated as well, and you purchased supplies. If only you could have seen our kids proudly sporting new, well-stocked daypacks on their first day! Excitement overcame apprehension, and your love was a key ingredient.
Together with our courageous youth and their parents, we’re all co-creating housing that heals.
