The following information is about Joshua Station.

Please note:

  • Our program is NOT emergency housing, and we are unable to provide short-term shelter.
  • We are a two-year intensive program, with a careful intake process to determine whether this is a good fit for you.
  • After a phone consultation (see below), you may be invited to an orientation scheduled in the future.
  • We do not have a wait list. Rather, as families graduate and we have new openings, we hold a group orientation session for prospective residents.
  • Joshua Station is a two-year intensive program for families experiencing homelessness – a supportive pathway toward healing and self-sufficiency.

Before you request a phone consultation, please note our requirements:

  • You must have income (TANF, child support, or a job). We require families to pay 30% of their income for rent.
  • You must have children under the age of 18 in your care. You may be a couple, single parent, single grandparent, etc.
  • You may not be on alcohol or drugs while in our program. Drug testing is part of our intake process. Marijuana use, including for medical purposes, is not permitted.
  • If you have an addiction, you must be in the process of recovery. Three months of sobriety are required by the date of orientation. We do not have addiction treatment on-site, so you will need to be participating in outpatient treatment.
  • You must be highly motivated to engage in a supportive program of personal transformation over two years. Required components include employment and education, skills courses/workshops, counseling, and weekly work with a staff family advocate. You will participate in goal setting and follow-through.
  • Your children’s participation in youth education support is required.
  • You must be willing to participate in community life with your neighbors at Joshua Station. Community activities and events shared meals, shared chores, and shared encouragement are what makes living at Joshua Station a special experience.
  • We are NOT able to make exceptions to any of the above requirements. We encourage you to pursue other community resources if this isn’t a fit

Joshua Station Orientation

  • Orientation is required for each adult in a family requesting consideration for intake.
  • No children are allowed in the orientation, and we are not able to provide childcare.
  • After a phone consultation with one of our staff, you will be informed when an upcoming orientation date and time is available.
  • At orientation, you will receive detailed information about our program, including your opportunities, requirements, and responsibilities.
  • After orientation and application, you are invited for an interview. You will hear about your acceptance approximately 4-6 weeks after the interview. We do our best to move in families promptly after acceptance, but circumstances may vary.
  • Orientation is by invitation only, after a live phone conversation with you as a prospective resident. We are not able to schedule via voice mail.
