Giving, Cycling, Healing: A MHM Friend’s Journey

Giving, Cycling, Healing: A MHM Friend’s Journey

“I love the all the opportunities to be connected with Mile High Ministries,” Beth Killebrew says. “It’s not about how much you donate, it’s about developing a relationship with an organization. I haven’t always found it possible with other organizations, but it’s been very meaningful here.”

Before they were married, Beth and her husband John started volunteering with our annual Christmas Store. “It kind of confirmed our relationship, Beth remembers, “as I saw good qualities in John.” That was over 20 years ago. As a couple, they got to know other volunteers over the years and shared times with our residents.

All this firsthand experience inspired Beth and John to support MHM financially. “We trusted Mile High Ministries’ long track record of solid ministry, their transparency in terms of where the money goes, and the oversight of an active and attentive board of directors.”

After a years-long illness, John passed away in 2021. Those hard years, and Beth’s current season of active grieving, naturally affected Beth’s participation with Mile High Ministries. “I couldn’t face being at the Christmas Store without John. But when I saw a note about Mile High Ministries’ first annual Bike Ride fundraiser last fall, I was in.” Beth’s passion for cycling has become a way of healing, and her ride carried forward their shared passion for giving.

A few months later, Beth made a generous gift for Clara Brown Commons. “John’s career and passion was in the educational field, so it seemed fitting to help create educational gathering spaces for this new housing community.”

We’re inspired by you Beth, and we’re honored to be on a journey of healing with you.

If you’re inspired and want to join us for a 5-mile family-friendly ride, a 35-mile loop, or the full 50-mile option with a Red Rocks climb. Finish up with lunch, music, and a gathering with Joshua Station residents. Our ride will help MHM continue to create supportive housing that heals.
