So many of our generous donors are pre-scheduling their gifts for Colorado Gives Day. Will you join them today, in support of our resident families transitioning from homelessness? It’s easy online, and any amount is a great help.
As we’ve mentioned, gifts received through Colorado Gives next Tuesday, December 8, will be increased thanks to a portion of the $1.5 million incentive fund.
An extreme challenge now for our resident families – and our graduates who have moved into their own housing – is rent. While that’s typically the case in Denver, the situation is reaching a crisis point in 2020 – one in four Denver residents is in danger of losing housing due to loss of income. Joshua Station provides exceptionally affordable, robustly supportive housing for those who have already been pushed over the edge.
Our model includes charging very modest rent so that residents make their own tangible investment in our partnership with them. In the current economic emergency, however, we’ve needed to be flexible. We have waived rents for those who have lost jobs or benefits and are truly unable to pay. We also have an emergency fund for our graduate families who are at risk of losing hard-won housing, and now could end up homeless again.
Your help now is critical for getting our Joshua Station moms, dads, and children through this tough stretch and into brighter futures.
We know these are extraordinary times for each of you as also. Some of our faithful supporters are grieving diminished capacity to give as in the past. Some are glad to share from unexpected abundance. If you are able, offer as you can – financially or otherwise. A simple note of encouragement to our residents and staff would be wonderful! We’ll pass it along, and we’d love to hear a bit about your own joys and challenges so that we can hold you in prayer too.
Blessings and peace,
