Mile High Ministries helps our neighbors experience more full and abundant lives. Because Jesus prioritized people who were suffering, impoverished, and marginalized, so do we.

As we prepare to enter a new fiscal year July 1, I want to invite your financial generosity for this good work. We have significant plans for the year that will expand our capacity for “Housing That Heals,” and your gift in any amount will be very timely.

Our strategy begins with housing that is safe and affordable for our neighbors who have very low incomes. Within these living spaces, we bring supportive programs that help people heal from traumatic experiences, pursue their aspirations, raise families, and contribute to our vibrant city.

With your suppport, we help create healing with these simple ABCs: Advocacy, Beauty, and Community. These key ingredients in Mile High Ministries’ special sauce allow our residents to shine in remarkable ways.

For the moment, can I invite you to consider the invitation of Beauty?

First of all, we delight in the preciousness of every human person created in the image of God. Every day, in every corner of our work, we encounter shimmering examples among our residents, volunteers, donors, staff, and community partners. It’s why we love to highlight stories and faces of our people – and invite you to visit our website and follow our social media for weekly inspiration.

Secondly, we cultivate beautiful living spaces. Our new apartment community, Clara Brown Commons, is a gorgeous place to live—inside and out. At Joshua Station, you’d be amazed at the beauty our families create inside their home units—and this summer we are undertaking a huge reconstruction and repair project to make our historic motel safe and inviting.

To share just a few of our exciting plans…

  • This summer Joshua Station will get all new exterior stairs and walkways… if you walk them, you know why! It will involve temporary relocation of all families – a logistical, financial, and programmatic challenge. We’re adding a security fence for our residents’ experience of safety for their families, and we’re planning other major repairs.

  • We are expanding our mental health services for residents, including peer addiction recovery, and psychotherapy in Spanish.

  • We are expanding chaplaincy and spiritual care for staff and residents, as well as our volunteer and donor community

  • We will initiate Phase 3 of our Clara Brown Commons campus, building on a remaining parcel of vacant land.

  • Our Abundant Ground consulting program provides technical assistance to a growing number of churches exploring the possibility of building affordable housing on their under-utilized land.

We’re ever grateful for the beauty YOU bring, along with our residents and team. Thank you for your prayerful consideration of this giving opportunity to provide housing that heals!

Gratefully,

Jeff Johnsen
