Dear friends,

This week at Joshua Station we gathered with many of you for our Spring Into Caring celebration event. We all got to cheer forward steps our residents are taking, and to give thanks for our donors’ generosity that supports them daily. You gave $80,864 that will multiply and ripple through the family generations shaped by their time here. They, and we, are overwhelmingly grateful!

We heard stories of our families’ courage and perseverance—in small daily decisions and major life shifts. We sipped wine and nibbled from a lavish charcuterie board as we listened, and then we hung out with families over dessert.

One highlight was a rousing chorus of Happy Birthday to three-year-old resident Lucas. Our beloved big guy took his first steps in our office hallways in what seems like yesterday, and now he delights us with conversation. As Lucas took in the sights and sounds and sweets of the evening, his bright eyes were a snapshot of the transformation happening within all of us who are blessed to be part of this place—donors, volunteers, staff, and residents.

Miriam Medina, Joshua Station Family Advocate, expressed our thoughts well:

In the heart of our housing programs, we witness firsthand the transformative impact of community on the lives of families escaping housing insecurity. Here, within the embrace of our community, individuals find not only shelter and support but also a sense of belonging and dignity. They find a safe harbor amidst life’s storms, a sanctuary where hope is nurtured, and the space for residents to give wings for their dreams to soar.

What exactly is this power of community that I speak of? It is the collective heartbeat of compassion that pulses through this organization, guiding our actions, and shaping our mission. It is the unwavering belief that every individual, regardless of their circumstances, deserves to be treated with dignity, respect, and love.

[At Joshua Station and Clara Brown Commons], community manifests itself in so many ways. It is the tireless dedication of our staff. It is the generosity of our donors, whose contributions fuel our mission and ensure that individuals have a chance at the life they deserve. And it is the spirit of camaraderie and solidarity that binds us together as in our commitment to serving others.

I want to express my deepest gratitude to each and every one of you for your unwavering support and dedication to our cause- housing that heals. Together, we are truly making a difference in the lives of those we serve, and for that, I am grateful.

Gratefully,

Amy Jackson
